Just because you may not be a spring chicken any more doesn’t mean that you should stop enjoying yourself. However, we understand that you won’t want to be surrounded by screaming kids and bopping teenagers. It is for this reason that travelling off season is a great option.
There are many great reasons you should book your holiday for this spring. Here are just a few…
1. It’s Financially Smart
There are no two ways about it! Going on holidays during spring is just plain smart - for a number of reasons. Firstly, you will be avoiding the summer rush, meaning your holiday will be that little bit more comfortable.
In addition to this, it’s cheaper! You can save so much money by travelling outside off-peak holiday times, and you can often avail of special half board or all inclusive deals.
2. It’s A Remedy for Seasonal Affective Disorder
Did you know that that is actually a real condition? That’s right, it is a condition that usually begins in the autumn and continues into the winter. It saps your energy and makes you feel moody. However, don’t go self-diagnosing just yet! Most people feel that little bit sad during the winter. Having something to look forward to come spring is the ideal way to lift that grey cloud (metaphorically, unfortunately – we don’t have a direct line to Mother Nature just yet!).
3. It’s good for Your Health
The sun is a great source of Vitamin D (which is also known as the sunshine vitamin). Vitamin D is great for people over the age of 50 in particular, as its main function is to regulate the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in our bones.
4. It’s not too hot, and not too cold
You really cannot beat the spring sun. If you find the summer sun in those sandy Mediterranean countries too hot and sticky, a nice spring climate should suit you down to the ground. Of course, the cooler temperature will mean that the beaches won’t be as crowded as they would be mid-summer. Furthermore, you won’t have issues with air conditioning, annoying insects, PLUS you will actually be able to travel around and take in the sights without constantly needing to find shelter for your delicate Irish skin. However, that is not to say that you don’t need the Factor 30 (at least!) and a hat of some description.
5. The perfect destination for some peace and quiet
We know you probably lead a busy life and now and again, you will probably want to take a break from it all. If the idea of kids running around screaming puts you off taking a holiday, why don’t you travel while they are still in school? All the popular resorts will be quieter outside of the kids' school holidays.
