7 Things We Love About Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm el-Sheikh is fast becoming the premier holiday destination for European travellers. Known as the “City of Peace”, Sharm is probably Egypt’s best-kept secret when it comes to holiday resorts. Located on the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula, looking out over the Red Sea, it is as luxurious as it is beautiful and will keep even the most demanding of visitor entertained.

Tour Egypt refers to Sharm as “an extravaganza of entertainment in a beach setting backed by the natural wonders and historic enclaves of the Sinai.”

Sharm is the jewel in the crown of the Sinai Peninsula and it is fast becoming a major holiday destination for Irish people. But it’s not all about lying on the beach
because if shopping, water sports and nightlife make up your ideal holiday, look no further than Sharm.

SHARM EL-SHEIKH: THE THINGS WE LOVE

Beaches

Naama Bay is probably the most popular of all the beaches but many resorts also have their own private beaches with guest-only access.

History

Visit the historic enclaves of the Sinai, the 6th Century Monastery of St. Catherine and climb Mount Sinai, where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments from God.

Water-sports

Sharm is one of the most prominent diving spots in the world with crystal clear water and many amazing coral reefs to explore.

The last remaining wonder of the ancient world; for nearly 4000 years, the extraordinary shape, impeccable geometry and sheer bulk of the Giza Pyramids have invited the obvious questions: ‘How were we built, and why?’. Centuries of research have given us parts of the answer. Built as massive tombs on the orders of the pharaohs, they were constructed by teams of workers tens-of-thousands strong. Today they stand as an awe-inspiring tribute to the might, organisation and achievements of ancient Egypt. . . 📷 @omaarashraf . . #model #history #visitegypt #pyramid #architecture #ancientegypt #beautiful #madeinegypt #hurghada #uae #lebanon #egipto #wedding #photographer #cairoshopping #egyptfashion #luxor #gizapyramids #sharmelsheikh #bride #interiordesign #egyptology #myegypt #new #bhfyp #beirut #alex #paris #london #storyofthatplace

Safaris into the desert by quad bike or camel are recommended. We also recommend hiring a private guide for overnight stays at the oasis to see the desert sky by night.

Climate

Sharm has an arid climate—hot and dry—all year round, but it gets a little humid in the summer. Most cafes have large fans to keep their customers nice and cool.

Nightlife

At night, Naama Bay has the atmosphere of a mini Las Vegas. It becomes the centre of nightlife in Sharm with many funky nightclubs, bars, restaurants and casinos to choose from.
