Things to do in Sydney, Australia
Sydney. What a place! It is difficult to find a place on earth that offers such a happy medium between the hustle and bustle of city life and the rest and relaxation of one of the most famous beaches in the world.
Aaaah yes, Sydney has it all! Allow us to help you make the most of your trip with our top five places to visit on your trip Down Under!
The Sydney Opera House is one of the most iconic buildings in the world, and a must-see if you are lucky enough to visit Sydney. There are many ways to experience the Opera House; go to see a show, take a tour, dine in one of the many restaurants or cafes housed in the Opera house, savour a drink while enjoying the view of Sydney Harbour, or - of course - do a spot of souvenir shopping.
Bondi Beach Sun, sea, surf, and sand…
Bondi Beach has it all! Why not take a surf lesson, go for a swim…or try to get on Bondi Rescue if there are some TV cameras about the place! There are also a number of lovely walks from Bondi Beach along the coast. Our favourite one is the one from Bondi to Bronte, which is a breath-taking 6km walk (return).
Harbour Bridge Climb
Almost on a par with the Sydney Opera House is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. While standing beside it is one thing, actually climbing it will bring a whole new dimension to your Australian adventure. There are a number of different climbs to choose from, and they can be done at four different times; dawn, twilight, day or night. Our favourites are the dawn or night Bridge Climb – you get to see the spectacular sunrise or the glittering city Sydney lights.
Manly is quaint seaside resort located just fifteen minutes from Sydney’s CBD. It is accessible by ferry and is home to 18 pristine beaches, as well as some famous coves, national parks, aboriginal sites, and historic landmarks. Manly is a must-see for anyone who is snap-happy with a camera! Two of our favourite things to do in Manly include a visit to Oceanworld, where – if you are brave enough – you can do a shark dive; and a bike ride using some of the resorts 20km bike tracks.
Palm Beach is home to the set of Home & Away, a soap we’re sure most of you have been addicted to at one point or another. For those you still watch it, a two-hour trip on the L90 bus from Sydney’s CBD is a must for anyone who wants to catch a glimpse of the infamous Braxton Brothers. Details of filming times are not readily available, so you could end up making a trip without being starstruck. Nevertheless, Palm Beach is lovely and you can still get a photo taken outside the Surf Club!
