POLAR HOLIDAYS
with EXODUS TRAVELS

The UK's largest small ship Polar Expeditions operator in the Arctic and Antarctica

Polar bears, walrus, penguins, seals, whales and giant icebergs the size of housing estates are always major draws to the polar regions, but the vessels are equally important. Small ships containing committed staff with extraordinary levels of experience and an adventurous and dedicated work ethic do not guarantee the adventure of a lifetime, but at least they make it possible.

ANTARCTICA

The adventure of an Antarctic expedition is the ultimate holiday experience. The 7th continent, Antarctica, is for many the ultimate wilderness destination - a pristine area navigable only by small specially ice-strengthened vessels.

Until recently, Antarctica was accessible only to the men and women of meticulously planned pioneering expeditions. However, following strict environmental guidelines, small groups on expedition vessels can now follow in the footsteps of those explorers and navigate through sea-sculpted bergs and groaning, crumbling glaciers to discover sights rarely seen by humanity.

During the short summer months the vast pack ice opens and this often harsh and inhospitable environment plays host to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. Millions of penguins, petrels and albatrosses breed here, seals laze languidly on ice floes, and whales indulge Zodiacs benignly under virtual 24 hour daylight. Some choose the Peninsula, others further afield to the Circle and those with more time may visit the wildlife strongholds of the Falklands and especially South Georgia. Whatever the decision, this wilderness, seen from a small expedition vessel, not a monstrous cruise ship, will attract and enchant like no other.

ARTIC

Bathed in perpetual daylight during the summer months, the Arctic region is a pristine wilderness that only the most intrepid of travellers venture to. Accompanied by expert guides and like-minded adventurers, your Arctic expedition holiday onboard a state of the art ice-rated ship is sure to both educate and amaze.

There are numerous definitions of the Arctic region, however the boundary is generally considered to be north of the Arctic Circle (66º 33'N). Socially and politically, the Arctic region includes the northern territories of the eight Arctic states, including Lapland, although by natural scientific definitions much of this territory is considered subarctic.
