Spanish Holiday

posted by European Travel - 17 August 2011

Spain is one of my favourite destinations and I try to get to the Costa del Sol every year if I can. This year I went to Nerja which is east of Malaga and away from the main tourist spots. I rented an apartment at Marinas de Nerja. It's right on the beach and just about 2km walk from the town centre. It's a great location to hang out at the beach or pool for the day and then in the evening you can stroll into Nerja where there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Then it's a short walk (or taxi!) home. Nerja has a market on Sundays and Tuesdays that are worth a visit and the town itself is really nice to wander around during the day if you've had too much of the beach. You can take a day trip from Nerja to places likes Frigiliana (a white village), Nerja Caves or even Granada to see the Alhambra Palace. But what I enjoy most is relaxing on the beach with a book, enjoying the great food and wine in a local restaurant and watching the world go by.
