Monkey Mia, is located 850 kilometres north of Perth, where a small pod of dolphins regularly swim up to the shallow waters to be feed fish from peoples’ hands.  There are trained rangers to keep a close eye on proceedings. There is more to do than just feed the dolphins at Monkey Mia such as, Aboriginal cultural walks, a camel ride or take a boat trip to the pearl farm just off red bluff it only takes 8mins from Monkey Mia across the sparkling blue waters.

Monkey Mia also has a Dolphin Information Centre, and offers good bathing at Shell Beach, unique in that it has a four-mile (6km) stretch of tiny white shells stacked up to 33ft (10m) deep. Some of the buildings in the nearby seaside town of Denham are built out of shells from this beach.

The Australian Dollar (AUD) is divided into 100 cents. Banks and bureaux de change exchange most foreign currencies. Travellers cheques are also welcome everywhere, but banks take a small commission and it is better to take cheques in major currencies (e.g. US dollars or Euros) to avoid additional charges. Credit cards are widely accepted and ATMs are freely available throughout the country. Banking hours are generally 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 9.30am to 5pm on Friday, but some banks offer extended hours and some are open on Saturday mornings.
