You will find excavated Hellenistic tombs above the Fig Tree Bay. Protaras' weather is gorgeous, with temperatures known to reach a high of 35°C.

Protaras has frequently been named by renowned tourist guides, including Trip Advisor, as having some of the best beaches in Europe. Many have received the Blue Flag award for water quality and safety. Most offer great sports and recreational facilities. The nightlife on offer here is vibrant, with several bars and restaurants offering diverse cuisines to select from. There are also lots of sports bars dotted around the resort which are sure to be a hit amongst sports enthusiasts. For those with lots of energy, try climbing up to the Byzantine church of Profitis Elias, which stands 100 meters above the resort. Those who take on the challenge of the 156 step climb will be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of Protaras and the surrounding shore. It is especially picturesque at night when it is lit up and glows from its perch above the resort. On a sunny day, the Karpasia peninsula, located in the occupied portion of eastern Cyprus, may be seen. Unsurprisingly, this region is popular amongst couples who come to Cyprus to hold their wedding.
