Perth
Perth has some of Australia's beautiful beaches, hopping nightlife, busy markets, city parks, outdoor restaurants and amazing marine adventures are found in this modern contemporary city.
Flanked by the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean and the Great Southern Ocean, Western Australia is Australia’s largest state. Perth is the capital and an interesting fact about Perth is that it is actually located closer to Singapore and Jakarta than it is to the capital Canberra in (ACT) Australia Capital Territory in the heart of New South Wales.
Agriculture is the major export industry here with wheat, wool, beef and lamb being the main products. There is a wide diversity of activities to explore including wilderness adventures in the outback, diving on coral reefs or take a trip to one of the many popular hot spots of Kimberley Region, Broome, Gibb River Road, The Pinnacles, Albany, Kalgoorlie, Monkey Mia and the Margaret River.
There are also two distinct seasonal variations. In the southern half of the State there are four seasons - summer, autumn, winter and spring, and in the north there are just two, wet and dry. The dry season usually last from April-September and temperatures range from 34 degrees during the day to 24 degrees at night.
The wet season runs from October to March. The Southwest region averages a maximum of around 32 degrees in summer and 14 degrees in the winter. Perth has more sunny days per year than any other Australian capital city so sunshine is usually standard.
Car
The car is a great way of exploring Western Australia. Many of the highway roads are excellent but they are limited. Be careful of dust rising from other vehicles and watch out for kangaroos and cattle who like to roam the roads so drive with caution.
The best highways are;
Bus
A word of warning:
If you decide to travel across WA by road, make sure you are ready for a lot of driving even if you plan to just go to the next town. We would strongly advise that if you decide to leave the Highways then you must consider renting a 4WD. You may need the rental company’s authorisation to drive off road so make sure you ask. Driving on outback tracks should definitively not be taken lightly, especially if you have no experience driving in the Australian desert. Petrol supply is scarce, water is rare and it could be weeks before anyone finds you if you break down.

Monkey Mia, is located 850 kilometres north of Perth, where a small pod of dolphins regularly swim up to the shallow waters to be feed fish from peoples’ hands.
The Pinnacles just a short drive from Perth. The Pinnacles are limestone formations in the Nambung National Park. They are regarded as one of Australia's most unique landscapes. This is the place where Billy Connolly once danced naked.
Home to huge wilderness sanctuaries, spectacular gorges, thundering waterfalls and the incredible Bungle Bungles. Kununurra is the gateway to the outback experience of the Kimberley and an ideal base to explore this fascinating region.
Margaret River offers a wide variety of attractions - from the tranquil waters of Geographe Bay in the north, down the ancient cave-carved Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, it is well known for its award winning wines, fine food, pristine beaches and breathtaking scenery.
Broome, a pearling town with an exotic past, is a tropical oasis nestled alongside the blue waters and white sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean. Australia’s North West is one of the last true wilderness areas. Further south, you will find pristine beaches, exotic marine life and the bluest ocean.
Fremantle features the largest collection of heritage listed buildings in Western Australia and is internationally recognised as the world’s best preserved example of 19th century port streetscape. Hop on the Fremantle Tram for a guided tour of the city.
I had 3 weeks hoilday, and wanted to see my brother and family in Australia. My brother lives in Bondi, so thought it best to stay in this area.
I stayed at the Swiss Grand Bondi hotel on Bondi Beach which was fabulous. Lovely spacious rooms with small separate room off bedroom and great rooftop swimming pool and spa. Bondi beach has great beach/walks/restaurants/bars/shops and is only 20mins from city centre, so we had best of both words. Were able to go to city centre to do harbour cruise, city tour and wander around the city & harbour area taking it all in.
After Sydney we flew to Hamilton Island and spent a few days at the Reef View Hotel. Hamilton is great with loads to do, nice restaurants, good sailing trips. Highlight was sailing trip to Whitehaven beach, stunning.
