The main focal point of Barcelona is Las Ramblas, stretching from Plaza de Catalunya to the harbour. Along the central promenade flower sellers and street entertainers provide atmosphere and colour.

Close by is the Gothic quarter with its famous cathedral and narrow medieval streets teeming with ancient buildings, many of them housing galleries, cafes, boutiques and tapas bars. The architecture of Gaudi can be spotted in many parts of the city, most notably at the splendid Sagrada Familia cathedral and Guell Park.

When you need a break from the culture, or shopping head down to the beach or to Barceloneta, an area on the waterfront with many stylish restaurants offering seafood and Catalan specialities. Football fans will enjoy a visit to the Nou Camp, home to F.C. Barcelona. Barcelona has a lovely climate all year round but particularly between May and July. Winter is still pleasant but expect some showers.
