Hoi An

On the banks of the Thu Bon River, on the central coast, this ancient town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th century. Its buildings and street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to earn its listing as a World Heritage Site.

With its newly developed tourist infrastructure, Hoi An has no shortage of restaurants, shops and hotels. For a typical Hoi An experience, make an early morning visit to the lively market along the riverside, get measured up for a suit with a local tailor and try a bowl of delicious noodle soup for breakfast before heading to the beach to relax and top up your tan.
