Sorrento is lively and colourful. In the historical centre, a cobbled lane known as ‘The Drain’ runs alongside the main street.  Full of atmosphere, it is a great place for shopping and strolling, exchanging banter with local traders, and maybe enjoying a drink or a pizza, often to the accompaniment of a well known Neapolitan song or two.  

Sorrento is rich in excursion possibilities, whether by guided tour or on public transport.  The island of Capri, Positano and Amalfi, Pompeii and Herculaneum are just some of the attractions within easy reach. 

Although the Sorrento peninsula does not have sandy beaches, the many pontoon-style bathing establishments provide a place at which to sunbathe and swim.
