Vanua Levu
Hilly Vanua Levu comprises mainly dense rain forest, small coastal villages, and two coastal towns on its north and south sides. Labasa is a major sugar producer set amid sugarcane fields, while Savusavu is a modest hub of tourism on the coast.
Between the two lies one of Fiji's most diverse rain-forest reserves, Waisali. The southeast of the island is primarily indigenous-Fijian and has an attractive landscape packed with rainforests, coconut plantations and incredible ocean views. The north and the west of the island are virtually untouched by tourists.
