A Secret tour: 3 things about the new Quantum of the Sea Cruise everyone is talking about

The Quantum of the Seas Cruise is the ship everyone in the industry is talking about. Some are even calling it the hottest cruise of the decade!
We’ve talked before about what you should do and where you should go on your first cruise holiday, but what makes this one so special?
Luckily for you (and us) we’ve managed to get a super secret tour behind the scenes of this luxurious ship!
Here’s what you need to know before you book:

1. The Quantum of the Seas is the world’s first “smart ship”

The Quantum of the Seas is what’s known as a “smart ship”, making it the first of its kind. This doesn’t just mean that you can make your friends jealous with a sneaky Facebook post (although it does mean that too, as the ship’s satellite internet has speeds comparable to on-land broadband).
You can track your luggage from when you check it in to when it arrives at your cabin. And you can also dramatically reduce your wait time on the day of embarkation by checking in early.
Each passenger also gets a WOWband wristband that acts as their onboard ID and opens your cabin door. You can even use it to pay for things onboard. There are stations scattered around the ship for those who do not have their own smart devices or alternatively staff can help with their own equipment.

2. There are activities on board for absolutely everyone

Now sometimes you see these sorts of claims and wonder how organisers can find something to appeal to every age group, but the Quantum of the Seas really does find a way.
The ship’s “Seaplex” is the largest sports and entertainment complex at sea. It includes a full-sized basketball court, roller skating and the first ever bumper cars at sea!
With the world’s first skydiving simulator at sea and a glass observation capsule that gives passengers a bird’s-eye view 300ft above sea level, no one could accuse Royal Caribbean of lacking ambition.
There are more low-key activities too, like nightly performances of shows such as Mamma Mia. The only problem is that you may never want to get off the ship!

3. On board you can live in the lap of luxury

All of the great new things that the Quantum of the Sea can offer don’t mean that the basics of a quality cruise are forgotten. Far from it! Everything from luxurious massages to swimming decks are still there.
And for the foodies, there are 18 different restaurants to choose from onboard. These aren’t just any old restaurants though. You can be sure that you’re getting top quality food with the likes of Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant serving on board.
You can even unwind in the Vitality Spa and let your stress melt away or relax in your room, looking at the sunset from your own “virtual balcony”.
