Visit Canada: Vancouver and Toronto

The last few years have seen lots of people leaving our beautiful country in search of work and new lives in Canada. It is an unfortunate trend to have to face up to. However, we have to see the positives associated with this shift: the option to visit our much loved and missed friends and family in a stunning country. Allow us to help you see how booking your flights to Canada should be something to be excited about!
Two of our favourite places in Canada are Vancouver and Toronto – and for good reason too!

1. Vancouver – The City of Glass

Vancouver has so much to offer; from theatres and museums to parks and aquariums…and everything in between. There really is something for everyone. We have pinpointed our favourite places to visit while there.

Whistler Mountain

Whistler Mountain is a firm favourite in the Abbey Travel office.
In the summer, Whistler Mountain is a haven for biking enthusiasts. In fact, the Whistler Mountain Bike Park was recently voted as the No. 1 bike park in the world, and it has been described as a gem hidden in a pile of dirt and rocks.

We can attest to that. Honestly, Whistler Bike Park has something for every level of rider. Whether you want a track you can cruise on at a leisurely pace, or something a little bit more adrenaline-pumping, the Whistler Bike Park has it all.
Whistler Mountain becomes another type of paradise during the winter, turning into an internationally renowned ski resort. The Whistler Blackcomb resort receives consistent snowfall throughout the season, and has done for the last ten years.
Getting to Whistler Mountain couldn’t be easier, as there is a variety of options. It takes about one hour from Vancouver by bus, but you can also drive, take the train or even fly!

2. Toronto & The Toronto Islands

Toronto is another glorious place. Like Vancouver, there is so much to see and do. However, our favourite things about Toronto are its islands.

The Toronto Islands are a chain of small islands which are located just offshore from Toronto’s city centre. A popular recreational destination, they are bursting with family-friendly attractions, tonnes of green space, bicycle paths, quaint cafes and various amusements.
There is nothing better than getting up early and manoeuvring the whole family to an area called The Waterfront. Before you board a ferry to The Toronto Islands, there are lots of things to do at The Waterfront; you can enjoy a spot of shopping, enjoy a free show in the big open-air theatre, visit art galleries, laze in HTO Park (Toronto’s newest urban beach), or admire the boats on the marina. During the winter, the marina transforms into an ice-rink, making it the perfect place to go for some family laughs.
Each of the Toronto Islands is as breathtakingly beautiful as the next. The main island (and our favourite) is Centre Island, which is home to Centreville Amusement Park. It is particularly suited to families with younger kids, and it the ideal location to enjoy a family picnic.
