Toni's Trip to Tenerife
By Toni Fennell
Last year I travelled with my husband to Tenerife and spent 2 weeks enjoying this fabulous sunny destination. We flew directly with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Tenerife and from the airport we took a transfer to Costa Adeje (Tenerife South) which took about 20 minutes.
Location
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. With its mixture of landscapes, beaches, and things to do, it is a wonderful place to spend a sunny holiday. We stayed in the 5 star Iberostar Sabila Hotel, which is an adult-only hotel. It is located on the sea front and has direct access to Playa de la Pinta. It is also close to Torviscas Beach and Fanabe Beach, which is approximately a 7 minute walk away. The hotel was beautiful - the decor was clean and minimalistic which added to the relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. There are two pools, Balinese beds, Wellness Rooms and Spas, a café, one pool bar and two restaurants which served both international cuisine and Canarian gastronomy.

What I Loved
A holiday to Tenerife would not be complete without a visit to Mount Teide Volcano and Siam Water & Amusement Park. These make for great days out and are well worth a visit.

Activities & Places to See
- Spend a day unwinding on the beach. We loved the nearby Playa de Fañabé and Playa del Duque.
- Become one with nature as you take a tour of Parque Nacional del Teide. This park is home to the highest peak in Spain, so the views are amazing! There is also a lot of plant and wildlife to be admired.
- Take a day trip to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in Northern Tenerife. Here, you'll find dark sandy beaches and the huge Loro Parque zoo.
- Make a splash at Siam Park, the biggest water park in Europe with the biggest artificial waves in the world.
- Have a fabulous experience whale and dolphin watching. There are a lot of tours which offer this amazing excursion. If you are brave there's the option to go snorkelling too!

Shopping
Shopping was one of my favourite things to do on this holiday. Plaza del Duque is the main commercial centre in Costa Adeje following by Playa de las Americas which has many shops and good bars. Siam Mall is also popular with tourists. This is an open-air centre which is home to many well-known retailers.

Food & Bars
There are lots of bars and restaurants on offer in Costa Adeje. The cuisine here is based around seafood but there are also restaurants which offer international cuisine. We enjoyed lots of different dining options during our trip as we preferred to eat outside our hotel. For a lunch-time spot I would recommend Secret’s Tasca, a delicious tapas restaurant perfect for grabbing something light on a hot day. We had a romantic dinner in Las Rocas restaurant. It's a little bit expensive for Costa Adeje’s restaurant standard but it was amazing, with an elegant atmosphere and a view of the ocean which will take your breath away! Last but not least, El Puente a lovely cozy restaurant which serves traditional Canarian food while Spanish music plays in the background.

Beaches
Costa Adeje has many beaches where you can relax and sunbathe. The most popular are Playa del Duque, Playa de Fanabe, Playa de las Americas and Playa Blanca. We spent some time on Playa del Duque & Play de Fanabe and could not fault them.
