Flights to Mebourne

Call it arty, cool, hipster or (dare we say it) European – either way, Melbourne is Australia’s cultural capital. Melbourne’s spark is in its inner-city neighbourhoods and the chic restaurants, cool bars, hipster cafés and lazy beaches that fill them. Try planning your trip around a sporting event or festival to see how the locals unwind. In the city, catch a show, soak in some street art, or watch the sun set from a rooftop bar. You will never get bored of Melbourne.

For over 37 years, Abbey Travel has been bringing Irish visitors to Melbourne from Dublin. We can arrange your holiday and get the best value flights with major airlines. We’ll even sort out a stopover along the way. Call on 01 804 7188.

DUBLIN TO MELBOURNE STOPOVERS

Flights from Dublin to Melbourne take between 23 and 26 hours, depending on your airline and connecting airport. To break up the journey, many visitors take a mini-break in their connecting airport – usually in the United Arab Emirates or South East Asia. On your way to Melbourne, you could spend a few nights in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur

THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND MELBOURNE

Melbourne is the quirkier side of Australia. It’s a hub of city activity and also a perfect base for spectacular natural wonders. In the city, visit the cultural hub of Federation Square with its buzzing bars, boutiques and eateries, and the iconic MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). Venture out to the hip beach suburb of St Kilda, hipster Fitzroy, or bohemian Brunswick Street in the north inner city.

SPORTS IN MELBOURNE

Australians love their sport and Melbourne is no exception. Catch an AFL (Australian Football League) game, a cricket match in the legendary MGC, or time your visit with the Australian Grand Prix, or the famous Melbourne Cup. Not forgeting the Australian Tennis Open which takes place in the famous Rod Laver Stadium.

DAY TRIPS FROM MELBOURNE

Phillip Island is just 90 minutes from Melbourne, and home to national parks where you can see koalas, historically preserved farms and (best of all) see the “penguin parade” as the little birds waddle in to the same points from the sea every day.

Melbourne is also on the spectacular Great Ocean Road; one of the most scenic drives in the world.

The Yarra Valley is definitely worth a visit. Fine wines and refined dining are the stars of this scenic setting, including around Marysville adn Warburton.
