Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark, located on the coastal islands of Amager and Zealand. The spectacular 16km Öresund Bridge links Copenhagen with Malmo in Southern Sweden. Copenhagen has many well-known attractions like The Little Mermaid, a bronze and granite sculpture inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale. Tivoli Gardens, also inspired by Hans Christian Andersen, is a city center amusement park with rides, roller coasters, gardens and summer concerts. Nyhavn is a renovated old port which houses restaurants and bars with great food and music. There are many palaces in Copenhagen; Amalienborg Palace is home to Queen Margrethe 2nd while Kronborg Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of Europe’s finest Renaissance castles. While in Copenhagen, you should visit the Viking Ship Museum to learn about the Viking era or sail on one of the five original Viking ships built in the 11th century.
