Budapest is the capital of Hungary, a landlocked country in Central Europe. The river Danube runs through the middle of Budapest dividing the city into 2 areas, Buda and Pest. Buda is the quieter residential area with historical landmarks, while Pest is the vibrant and lively part of the city. Budapest Airport is 22km from the city center. The city experiences a continental climate, which makes for cold winters and warm summers.

Buda Castle is a 13th century castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum. St Stephen’s Basilica has beautiful architecture and panoramic views of the city from the dome. Along the Danube Promenade, visitors can view the ‘Shoes on the Danube Bank’, which commemorates the atrocities of World War II. Budapest has so much to offer, from museums, galleries, markets, buskers, concerts and great shopping. After a busy day, enjoy the nightlife that Pest has to offer or relax in one of the many spas and thermal baths. Gellert Spa and Rudas Baths are some of the original Turkish bathhouses dating back to the 1600’s.

Budapest is suitable for everyone, from families, friends and couples to solo travellers. There is great sightseeing, nightlife, restaurants, cafes and bars and a great range of accommodation which will suit all travellers regardless of what they’re looking for. Children will love the variety of parks in the city perfect for activities in the summer or going ice skating in the winter.
