Malaga airport is located 7 miles (12km) west of the city centre.

Airport Taxis

Taxis can be found outside the arrivals area of the terminal building. Fares are calculated at EUR0.84 per km during the day and EUR1.03 per km at night from 10pm until 6am.

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking is available.

Car Rental

Car rental companies represented at the airport include Avis, Europcar, Centauro and Hertz.

City Transfers

Buses, trains and taxis all serve Malaga airport. A bus leaving to the city departs every half hour and there are also buses to Marbella departing every 45 minutes. Taxis outside the airport add airport carrying charges and take approximately 20 minutes to reach the city. There are trains to Malaga, Torremolinos and Fuengirola that depart every 30 minutes.

Departure Tax

Facilities at the airport include a bank, ATMs, bureaux de change, restaurants and bars, shops, a post office, the National Museum of Air Navigation and Transport and a VIP lounge.

Spanish is the official language, but English is widely understood in areas frequented by tourists. Catalan, Galician and Basque are spoken in the relevant areas.

Spain's official currency is the Euro (EUR). One Euro is divided into 100 cents. Money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, but banks give the best rates. All major credit cards and travellers cheques are widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are widespread and are generally the cheapest and most convenient method of obtaining money.

Terminal Transfers

Terminal three opened in early 2010 and it is currently the only terminal used at the airport as terminal one and two undergo refurbishment.

Local time is GMT +1 (GMT +2 between the last Sunday in March and the Saturday before the last Sunday in October). The Canary Islands: GMT (GMT +1 in summer).
