Matagorda is located next to the popular resort of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote and is just a 5-minute drive from Lanzarote airport. Matagorda’s beach resort, Los Pocillos, has good facilities and offers a quieter alternative to Puerto del Carmen.

Matagorda has excellent golden beaches stretching for 6km with excellent facilities. The seafront promenade stretches from Puerto del Carmen in one direction and Arrecife in the other. Matagorda has a good range of hotels and apartments and there are no high-rise buildings in this resort. The commercial centre of the resort has a selection of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. For a wider variety of shopping and entertainment, Puerto del Carmen is a short taxi drive away or alternatively you can walk or cycle along the 6km promenade to get there.
For the adventure-seekers, there are many water sports on offer in Matagorda such as banana boat rides, jet-skiing, windsurfing and parasailing.

Matagorda is suitable for couples, solo travellers and is very popular with families as it is quieter than Puerto del Carmen. It’s also a good base to stay for those seeking quieter days before heading to Puerto del Carmen for livelier nights!
