Low Cost holiday idea for 2014: Tenerife

Low Cost Holidays to TenerifeWith sandy beaches, excellent seafood and 300 days of sunshine per year, Tenerife is the perfect place to take a well-deserved break this year.
Luckily, it is also one of our best value holiday options with great all-inclusive breaks on offer for 2014.
So sit back, relax and let us give you 5 reasons why we think Tenerife is the best low cost option for travel this year.

1. The weather is excellent all year round

Relaxing in the sunLet’s face it; most of us see more rain than sun. This can have a negative effect on our mental health and can leave us with feelings of sadness. We previously spoke about the effects of bad weather and the benefits of getting some sun.
Tenerife is the perfect location (close to Africa) for sunshine all year round and temperatures remain in the twenties even in the depths of winter! Having a sun holiday to break up the monotony of the Irish winter is always a good idea!

2. There’s plenty of fun in the sun

Tenerife is the Canary Island of choice for Irish people. In fact, the island gets over 5 million visitors a year. From shops to restaurants, pubs and disco bars there is plenty of entertainment all year round. The party never stops in Tenerife so whatever time of year you choose to go, expect happy hours, cocktails and karaoke in the evenings. With everyone enjoying the entertainment in the evenings, you’re also bound to meet some new friends.

Los Cristianos Harbour3. Tenerife is peaceful and relaxing

We know that partying is not everyone’s cup of tea. We do love the odd night out in the pub and having the craic during happy hour. But after a hard day tanning on the beach, we like to come back to a peaceful apartment, kick off the flip flops and chill out for the night. If this sounds ideal, Tenerife has some great resorts such as Los Cristianos where more mature holiday makers can relax in comfort without taking part in the late night festivities of nearby Playa de Las Americas

4. There are some amazing day trips

The volcano Teide and the famous Garcia Rock, TenerifeIf lying on the beach all day gets boring, fear not! Tenerife is packed full of interesting activities, day trips and excursions for tourists. Tenerife is home to the third largest island volcano in the world—Mt. Teide.  We always recommend a trip to visit to the Teide National Park, the largest national park in Spain where the earth is so similar to that of the planet Mars, that it is used for scientific testing of space equipment.
Another great day trip if you are staying in Los Christianos or close by in Playa de Las Americas is Monkey Park. This is a breeding ground for endangered species of primates, other animals and birds. Highly rated on Trip Advisor, the whole family will love this one, not just the kids!

Finally, Tenerife is an island that appeals to all budgets. From five star to cheap and cheerful, you will always get a great deal in Tenerife. Food, drink and shopping are all very reasonable, as are activities and excursions. Here is a rough guide to some prices.
For a low-cost sun holiday, Tenerife beats them all!
