Elche is the second largest city in the province of Alicante in southeast Spain. It is inland from the charming beaches of the Costa Blanca and 17km from Alicante airport.

Elche is famous for its palm trees. With over 200,000 trees the Palmeral of Elche is one of the largest palm groves in the world and is listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. The palm groves have walking and cycling trails and sites of interest including the National Artistic Garden, Palm Grove Museum and the Municipal Park. The old town, or Vila Murada, is a maze of narrow streets with a mix of Moorish and Baroque architecture including Calahorra tower, the Palace of Altamira and Basilica Santa María. Elche is also known for shoemaking and is home to the biggest shoe outlet village in Europe!

Elche is a place for those who enjoy culture, nature and some shopping. Family fun can be found at Multiavenutura Park in the town and Rio Safari Park, just a short drive away.
