Athens is the largest historical city and capital of Greece, surrounded by peak mountain landscapes. The peninsula of Attica is situated on the south side of the island, which is the highest-populated region of Greece and is surrounded by the Aegean Sea. Athens International Airport is 41km from Athens city.

Athens is all about exploring the ancient Greek culture, rich history, and archaeological sites. Some must-see sites include the Ancient Agora of Athens, the Roman Agora, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and The Acropolis. This is an ancient citadel with old columns and fragments of rocks that sits on top of a hill with incredible views overlooking the city. Guided tours of the area are available, or alternatively you could visit the Acropolis Museum. The hourly changing of the guard can be seen at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square and is free to observe. Explore Monastiraki with its colourful and vibrant alley ways lined by various hanging lanterns along Pittaki street. Another enjoyable neighbourhood is Plaka. Here you'll find colourful houses, narrow streets and charming cafes with small tables and seat cushions along Plaka steps, where you can enjoy a nice coffee.
