Zante is famous as a nesting site for the loggerhead turtle and part of the southern coast is a protected area for them. Zante town has many historic sites and is a good base for boat trips. You can take a glass-bottom boat trip and see the turtles in their natural environment or take a boat trip to the surrounding islands to snorkle, and dive and explore the Blue Caves and Keri Caves. For glitzy night clubs, Laganas is the place to go. Tsilivi also has bars and restaurants but is more low-key.
