Chania is a city on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Crete. It is located 15km from Chania airport. It is a beautiful old medieval town famous for its 14th century Venetian harbour. At the harbour’s entrance is a 16th century lighthouse with Venetian and Egyptian influences and has many fascinating museums. Chania enjoys a wonderful warm climate from April to October and the winters are very mild also.
This fabulous town is full of terrific restaurants and bars in the old port area with its narrow backstreets. There are lots of other holiday resorts nearby such as Agia Marina, Platanias and Rethymnon offering lovely beaches and can be easily reached using local transport. The town of Chania itself has a great buzz at night with lots of bars offering live music with everything from jazz to rock. Stunning quiet beaches can be reached by boat from the harbour where many people spend the day. The town also boasts a selection of excellent boutiques and jewellery stores offering great value for unique local products.
Chania and its neighbouring villages are ideal for families, couples and single travellers looking to combine sunshine and beaches with rich culture and history.
