Sliema is a coastal resort town on the Mediterranean island of Malta's east coast. The waterfront has a lengthy promenade and, to the south, the 18th-century polygonal Fort Tigné can be found. The resort is home to lots of wonderful historical sites and monuments, including St. Julian's Tower to the north, a 17th-century watchtower and fortress; the baroque-style Stella Maris Church which was built in the 1850s; and the star-shaped Fort Manoel on Manoel Island, which was constructed by the Knights of St. John.

The Sliema promenade is a 2 kilometer beachfront stroll that begins at the point of 'Qui-Si-Sana' and ends in the neighbouring town of St Julian's. Bring your comfortable shoes for a morning walk by the beach, then stop for a cappuccino or freshly squeezed juice at one of the cafés and 'Gabbanas', or kiosks, that line the seafront. Take a break on your journey back to your hotel by stopping at one of the many sunbathing sites along the road. Sliema is without a doubt Malta's greatest retail district. The town centre and The Point, the island's main shopping mall, are where you will find the greatest brands and designer stores.

Sliema, which has a variety of hotels as well as clubs and pubs, is a fantastic choice for a holiday destination for couples and families travelling together. Neighbouring St. Julian's, home to Paceville which has a popular nightlife district, is a stone's throw away. Valletta is also close by and is easily accessible via a short ferry ride across Marsamxett Harbour. You'll find with plenty of culture, history and sites of interest to admire here.
