Arzachena is a quaint market town in the northeast of the Italian island of Sardinia. It is 140km from Alghero airport and 300km from the capital city of Cagliari. This peaceful town features ancient tombs and burial sites and you can wander down the narrow streets to discover ancient churches and local markets. It is 15km from the pristine beaches of Costa Smeralda. The summers are hot and sunny with the island breezes keeping it comfortable, so we recommend visiting between June and August when temperatures are hottest.

At the heart of Arzachena is Piazza Risorgimento, a pretty cobblestone square with several cafes and boutiques. Stroll along Corso Garibaldi to find lovely bars, restaurants, and shops. You can relax and watch locals chat on the local benches and between their balconies. Arzachena is an old town with many ancient historical sites on the outskirts. Local buses run between Arzachena and several small local villages, some of which have archaeological sites. Arzachena is also famous for its breadmaking culture, and you can learn all about it at the Museo del Pane (The Bread Museum).
