Dresden city, which was part of the old East Germany, is located 40km north of the Czech Republic - German border, 190km south of Berlin and 150km north of Prague. It is the capital of the German state of Saxony and is famous for its celebrated art museums and classic architecture.

Dresden was heavily bombed in the Second World War and this beautiful old city was badly damaged. It has however been restored over the years and has now returned to its former grandeur as a center for art and culture. Dresden nowadays is a wonderfully vibrant city with fantastic restaurants and bars contributing to terrific nightlife. There are many guided tours to take on a visit to this fascinating city steeped in history and culture. The river Elbe flows through the city and with 65% devoted to woods and green spaces, Dresden is one of Europe’s greenest cities.

Dresden is a lovely city suitable for all and with its proximity to the likes of Berlin, Prague and Leipzig along with the wonderful rail system makes it a perfect base to explore and discover central Europe.
