Olbia is 265km north of Cagliari and 137km east of Alghero. The region experiences a warm and temperate climate, with relatively dry summers.
Piazza Margherita is at the top of Corso Umberto and opens onto Piazza Matteotti. These are piazzas or squares in the centre of Olbia surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops, and is close to the medieval San Simplicio Basilica. Tourists can visit the Museo Archeologico di Olbia located on the waterfront, and on a hilltop is Nuraghe Riu Mulinu, a complex with views over the Gulf of Olbia.
