The Dalmatian Coast has the clearest waters in the Mediterranean and many historical and cultural attractions. Cycle on the long and beautiful islands of Hvar and Korcula, taking ferries between them. See seaside villages, medieval towns, and pebble bays. Finish in Dubrovnik, a Unesco city with a unique preserved atmosphere. Includes hotel accommodation with breakfast.

Itinerary

Day 1 Start Split; ferry transfer to Hvar

  • Meet the group in Split at the ferry port, to take a service to Stari Grad on Hvar Island. Transfer by road to Hvar town for the first two nights.
Accommodation: Hotel in the vibrant town of Hvar

Day 2 Circular ride exploring Hvar island

  • Start the day with a transfer to Stari Grad where you will be fitted for your bike ready to cycle on an old Roman road to Vrbovska and then follow the coast to the village of Jelsa. There is a break there before heading back to Stari Grad for an optional lunch. After lunch, ride back to the town of Hvar. There is a tough hill climb to a viewpoint that overlooks the island of Brac with amazing views. On return to Hvar, there is time to wander around the narrow streets of this typical Dalmatian town, with marble streets and elegant gothic buildings inside the city walls.

Day 3 Ride to the port of Sucuraj; ferry via mainland to Korcula

  • Start today with a transfer to Jelsa and cycle east along the narrow part of the island with views of both coasts. There are views of mountainous mainland and the turquoise waters as you pass small villages, olive groves and tiny vineyards on the way to Sucuraj. From Sucuraj take a ferry to Drvenik on the mainland, transfer by bus to Orebic, then catch another ferry to Korcula. It has a rich cultural and historical heritage with a long tradition of seafaring, shipbuilding and stone-masonry, as well as being the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous explorer and traveller. On Korcula, there is a short transfer to the small town of Lumbarda, where we will stay for the next three nights.

Day 4 Free day in Lumbarda; optional visit to Mljet

  • You have a free day today to relax in Lumbarda, swim on the sandy beach of Przina or explore the lovely town of Korcula at your own pace. You can also join an optional visit (with bikes) to the beautiful island of Mljet. If you choose to go to Mljet and its national park, you will take a boat ride to Pomena, the entrance to the park. There you can enjoy a scenic short ride around the two lakes.

Day 5 Scenic ride from Vela Luka to Korcula town and on to Lumbarda

  • After breakfast, set off for a scenic ride around the green island of Korcula. Take a transfer to Vela Luka and cycle from there to the charming village of Brna near Smokvica. Then hop on the transfer again and head to Pupnat for lunch. After that, resume your cycling adventure and return to Lumbarda, having explored the island’s beauty and culture. Today is a full day with some challenging hills, but you can use the support vehicle if you need to.

Day 6 Ride through the vineyards of Peljesac Peninsula; transfer to Dubrovnik

  • Take a ferry to the Peljesac Peninsula, a narrow and rugged strip of land. Ride through olive groves, peaceful villages, and vineyards that cling to the steep slopes above the crystal-clear Adriatic. The ride finishes on an easy dirt track to the small bay of Zuljana. From here, switch to the support vehicle to avoid the busy traffic and head to Dubrovnik. On the way there is a brief stop at the historic town of Ston, a walled town with architecture similar to Dubrovnik. Arrive in Dubrovnik in the late afternoon and check into our hotel, which is a 10-minute bus ride from the old town. This evening, there is a guided tour of Dubrovnik’s Old Town.

Day 7 Free day to explore Dubrovnik

  • Dubrovnik is a charming old city on the Adriatic. It has beautiful religious buildings, fortified walls and red roofs. It was damaged by Serb attacks in 1991-1992, but it has been restored to its former glory. The old town is full of stone streets, fountains, churches, palaces and museums. There are no cars in the quiet city, but at night people walk along the marble Stradun, the main street. Dubrovnik is famous for its seafood, so we can end our Croatian trip with a feast of fresh grilled fish in the city walls.

Day 8 End Dubrovnik

  • Your adventure end after breakfast or you can talk to your sales representative about extending your stay in Dubrovnik.
