Itinerary
Day 1 - Join trip at Bilbao Airport
- Travel with the group to Sotres, the highest village in the Picos, to Casa Cipriano, a small family-run hotel.

Day 2 - El Collado de la Caballar to Arenas de Cabrales
- Today’s walk starts in El Collado de la Caballar (1100m), with a gentle descent to Tobaos Majada (900m) followed by an ascent to Collado de Pasadoir (1215m). Enjoy spectacular views of the three massifs while walking along the ridge through the pastures of Portudera, Todrin and Tambrin. Descend to Arenas de Cabrales joining an original cobbled roman road. Ascent/Descent: 550m; Time: 7hrs; Total: 17km.

Day 3 - Trek to Vega de Urriello Refuge
- Enjoy the drive through Invernales de Cabao and Pandebano, taking in the views back to Sotres. Walk up to a 'saddle', where Naranjo de Bulnes (Pico Urriellu 2,519m) comes into view. This rust-coloured mountain is the most iconic image of the Picos. Walk up to the refuge at the base and the chance to see climbers attempting to scale the sheer face. Ascent/Descent: 800m; Time: 6.5hrs; Total: 16km.

Day 4 - Jito de Escarandi to Urdon
- Today’s walk starts at Jito de Escarandi (1395m) following an old shepherds' path through the Valdediezma beech forest and pastures to Sobra Valley and on up to Treviso for a lunch break. Continue down the Balcon de Pilatos to Urdon where the bus will take us on to medieval town of Potes for an overnight stay. Ascent/ Descent: 1150m; Time: 5hrs; Total: 10km.

Day 5 - Fuente De Cable Car and a walk into the Aliva valley
- Drive to Fuente Dé with a visit to the Santo Toribio de Liebana Monastery on the way. Take the cable car up 1000 metres to the plateaux of the Picos and enjoy panoramic views of the national park. Walk through the alpine meadows of the Aliva glacial valley down to Sotres. Stop for a picnic lunch on the way at the abandoned Las Manforas mines. Ascent/Descent: 1000m; Time: 5hrs; Total: 18km.

Day 6 - Trek through the gorge of the Garganta del Cares
- Drive through Alpine scenery to Puente Poncebos (218m) to start today’s walk at the medieval pack horse bridge spanning the Cares River. The path through the dramatic gorge of the Garganta del Cares (1000m deep and 12km long) cuts into the cliffs in places with tunnels and bridges making it possible to walk its entire length. Ascent/ Descent: 300m; Time: 6hrs; Total: 24km.

Day 7 - Ascend Trasmacondiu Col (1,850m). Picnic on the Andara Vegas pastures
- Today’s walk starts at Jito de Escarandi to Trasmacondiu Col (1850m) and the Andara Vegas pastures. Descend around Macondiu mountain (summit 2050m) to the Caseton Refuge (1225m) for a lunch stop. Continue back to Jito de Escarandi (1300m) where you can take a transfer or walk 30 minutes back to Sotres. Ascent: 150m; Descent: 550m; Time: 4.5hrs; Total: 12km.
