Itinerary

Day 1 - Join trip in Zagreb

  • Transfer from Franjo Tudman Airport Zagreb (ZAG) to Hotel Central (or similar) in the capital. Welcome meeting in the hotel reception at 9pm

Day 2 - City tour of Zagreb, drive to Plitvice National Park

  • Start the day with a city tour of Zagreb including Zagreb Cathedral and 13th century Saint Mark's Church. In the afternoon drive down to Plitvice Lakes, set in forested hills. The park was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979 due to its series of plunging waterfalls and turquoise, calcium-rich lakes that are one of Europe's natural marvels.

Overnight in Hotel Jezero, Plitvice (or similar).

Day 3 - Walk around Plitvice National Park

  • Discover a rich variety of flora while walking on a track around the lakes, waterfalls, and oak and beech forests of Plitvice National Park. Enjoy views of the lakes and surrounding pine covered hills. Ascent/Descent: 140m; Time: 5hrs; Total: 14km.

Overnight in Hotel Jezero, Plitvice (or similar).

Day 4 - Hike the Premuziceva Trail

  • Transfer to Zavizan to walk part of the Premuziceva Trail, a 57km long hiking trail connecting Zavizan to Baske Ostarije along northern and central Velebit. Then on to Paklenica National Park, which lies on the southern edge of the Velebit Mountains. The karst landscape, dramatic gorges and jagged mountains make this one of the most beautiful walking areas in Croatia. Ascent: 280m; Descent: 200m; Time: 5.5hrs; Total: 16km.

Day 5 - Morning coastal walk, afternoon in Zadar

  • This morning’s walk follows a trail that passes villages dotted along the coast with the backdrop of the towering Velebit mountains. Take a swim in the crystal-clear waters of one of the isolated pebble beaches and enjoy lunch along the way. Afternoon transfer to Zadar with free time to explore the city and enjoy dinner before returning to Starigrad Paklenica. Time: 5hrs; Total: 12km.

Day 6 - Hike along the Paklenica Gorge

  • Morning journey by jeep with spectacular views of the coast along the way. Visit the Mirila stone monuments before continuing, on foot, to the abandoned village of Ramici. Descend along a trail through the forest to the upper reaches of the karst gorge. Follow a mountain trail lined with thyme and sage surrounded by stunning views. Stop for lunch at a traditional mountain hut before returning along a stream with a steep decent out of the gorge. Time: 4.5hrs; Total: 10km.
  • There is the option extend the walk by descending the other side of the gorge and returning to the hotel via a steep ascent, rewarded with far reaching views. Where the path meets the coast there is a chance for a refreshing swim. Time: 7hrs; Total: 18km.

Day 7 - Explore Trogir and Split

  • Morning transfer to Trogir. A mix of medieval, Venetian Gothic, and Romanesque architecture charts its history back to the 3rd century BC. Free time to explore the meandering alleyways, lined with cafes and restaurants and the waterfront promenade.
  • After lunch continue to Split, the product of 17 centuries of building, renovating, and remodelling. Free time to explore or take an optional guided walking tour of the city. Don’t miss the Diocletian's Palace, once a Roman mausoleum, then the world's oldest Roman Catholic church, and now a maze of cobblestone streets with pre-Romanesque churches alongside Gothic chapels.

Day 8 - Trip ends in Split

  • The trip ends after breakfast at the hotel in Split. Transfer today to Split Airport (SPU).
