Itinerary

Day 1: Nuremberg (Embark)

  • Welcome to Nuremberg International Airport. Depending on your cruise package, you may have a Uniworld representative waiting for you at the arrival gate to take you to the ship. If you have booked a private arrival transfer, you will be escorted by a Uniworld representative to the ship.

Day 2: Nuremberg

  • Nuremberg is the ultimate destination for seasonal celebrations, as it hosts the most magnificent and impressive Christmas Market in all of Germany! The “Gingerbread Capital of the World” goes all out during the holidays, and you’ll see for yourself on a panoramic tour that will fill you with festive cheer. You couldn’t ask for a better place to start your journey into Christmas traditions than Nuremberg. Enjoy the stunning views of the city from the castle gardens, then follow a network of narrow streets down to the central Market Square. There, you’ll find the largest Christmas Market in Germany, set up before the Church of Our Lady. You’ll also be treated to a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner this evening.

Day 3 Bamberg

  • Bamberg is a remarkable city that has survived WWII bombing almost intact. It’s a splendid example of a medieval German city, where you can walk around with a local expert and discover its secrets. You’ll also have free time to visit four Christmas Markets and see amazing nativity scenes along the nativity trail..

Day 4: Kitzingen (Rothenburg), Würzburg

  • Rothenburg is a fairy-tale town that has preserved its medieval charm, with its stone walls, cobblestone streets, Gothic churches, and Hansel-and-Gretel houses. You’ll join a local expert for an informative walking tour, and then explore the stalls at one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets.

Day 5: Würzburg

  • You’ll start your day by visiting the Würzburg Residence, a baroque-style palace that boasts a huge ceiling fresco. Then, you’ll head to the town’s famous Christmas Market, located in front of the old City Hall, for some unique gifts for your friends back home. The wooden booths are beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, and you’ll smell the aroma of roasted chestnuts and hear the music of Christmas carols. You’ll also have a chance to meet local residents this afternoon in a typical Franconian village. You’ll make new friends over warm drinks and homemade seasonal treats.

Day 6: Wertheim

  • Wertheim is a charming village that has been around for over a thousand years, where the Tauber and Main rivers meet. It has the cosy, relaxed small-town vibe of many German villages; here, people call each other by name as they shop for fresh bread and sausage in small shops. You’ll join a guided walking tour of the village, where you’ll learn about daily life in Wertheim, as well as the history of the town. Its many well-preserved medieval buildings—built with low doors and tiny windows—show the challenges of living in the Middle Ages.

Day 7: Frankfurt

  • Frankfurt is a city that combines the modern and the historic, with its skyscrapers and its old town, the Altstadt. Frankfurt’s old town is a delight to explore, and it has been the host of some of the best Christmas markets in Europe for centuries. You can choose to stay in town today for a “Taste of Christmas” walking tour that will show you all kinds of sweet and savoury treats, or you can go out of town on an excursion to the Christmas market in Wiesbaden. You’ll also enjoy a special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner this evening.

Day 8: Frankfurt (Disembark)

  • When you leave the ship, you will be taken to the Frankfurt International Airport for your flight home. This will either be a group departure transfer or a private departure transfer depending on your cruise package.
