Travel Deals: 5 Great Things to do in Orlando

Orlando is a magical place with something for everyone – whether you are visiting with a young family or a group of friends, Orlando is THE place to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime. We have been to Orlando many times over our 35 years of existence, and therefore we are bursting to brim full of tips and suggestions of places for you to visit. Now we are faced with the challenge of narrowing it down to our five favourite. Seems like an impossible task…but we’ll give it a go!

1. Theme Parks

OK so the first one is a no-brainer… Walt Disney World Resort, which is home to four Theme Parks: Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s MGM Studio, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as two water parks, twenty-four themed resorts, golf courses and entertainment venues! Walt Disney World Resort is a place where your worries disappear... Orlando is also home to the likes of Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Wet N'Wild, Seaworld, Aquatica, and Busch Garden. Our advice would be to invest in a 14 day Disney Ultimate ticket and an Orlando Flexticket Plus which allow you access to all these parks for 14 days. In addition to this, you will get complimentary access to Universal CityWalk which is without a doubt Orlando’s best entertainment and dining venue. At Abbey Travel, we are happy to organise tickets to suit your needs before you leave, making the whole adventure really easy!

2. Discovery Cove

Have you ever dreamt of swimming with dolphins? Who hasn’t? Discovery Cove is the perfect place to visit if you want to live your dream. There is a whole lot more to Discovery Cove, though… You can wade with rays, snorkel with fish that look like they’ve come from the set of Finding Nemo, feed tropical birds, and laze on beautiful beaches. It really is an experience.

3. Boggy Creek & the Florida Everglades

Boggy Creek represents a wilderness which is nothing short of breathtaking. Take an Airboat Ride and explore the natural wonders Boggy Creek has to offer – the flora, fauna and various animals such as birds and Florida alligators in their natural environment. A Coast Guard-approved airboat will whisk you across the surface of the water at speeds up to 45 mph while shooting between the walls of tall grass that make up the infamous Florida Everglades.

4. Shopping

Shop ‘til you drop…Orlando is shopping heaven for all the family. Enjoy a stroll around some of the biggest department stores including Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, or a splurge in one of the largest outlet locations in the Southeast. Whether you are looking for clothing, antiques or even home décor, Orlando has something to suit every wallet.

5. NASA Kennedy Space Centre

Get to see NASA’s launch and landing facilities, watch some live shows, and get close to the real deal by experiencing an interactive simulator. You can also meet face to face with a real life astronaut. Also, this June, they are launching priceless, Atlantis, where you can get up close and personal with historic spacecraft that tells the incredible story of NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle Program.

Why not visit all this and see it for yourself? We have loads more add-ons to make your trip even more exciting and jam-packed.
