Irene's Trip to dubai

By Irene Onorati

Dubai 1

I recently got to enjoy a 2 night trip to Dubai with 8 other travel professionals as part of a whirlwind fam trip. We departed from Dublin on Saturday night, travelling with Emirates on a direct overnight flight to Dubai. The journey was smooth and efficient, offering a comfortable experience throughout the duration of the flight. Upon arrival in Dubai early on Sunday morning, from the airport, it took approximately 40 minutes by car to reach the city centre.

Location

Upon arrival in the city, we checked into the elegant Fairmont Dubai City Centre Hotel, a luxurious property renowned for its exceptional service and modern amenities. Perfectly situated in the heart of Dubai, the hotel offers convenient access to many of the city’s most popular attractions, including world-class shopping malls, cultural landmarks, and vibrant dining districts. Its central location made it an ideal base for exploring all that Dubai has to offer, whether by foot, taxi, or public transport.

What I Loved

The weather was absolutely fabulous during our stay, which made the outdoor activities which had been prepared for us even more enjoyable. The exceptional hospitality we experienced throughout our stay truly stood out aswell, along with Dubai’s impressive modern infrastructure. Scenic rooftop venues offering breathtaking views of the skyline added a memorable touch to our evenings.

Activities & Places to See

  • The Burj Khalifa - We got to visit this iconic skyscraper and took in the breathtaking panoramic views of the city from its impressive observation deck.
  • The Dubai Mall - A guided tour showcased one of the world's largest shopping centres, which is home to luxury brands, indoor attractions, and has a vibrant atmosphere.
  • Islamic Culture Centre - Lunch was hosted here, offering a rich cultural and culinary experience with insights into Emirati traditions and hospitality.
  • Traditional Abra Ride - We crossed the creek by traditional river boat to reach the Souk, where we explored lively markets filled with spices, textiles, and authentic souvenirs.
  • Nikki Beach - A day was dedicated to relaxation at Nikki Beach, where we got to enjoy the sun, sea, and stylish surroundings in a chic beachfront setting.

Shopping & Culture

Dubai is a shopper's paradise, blending luxury malls, traditional souks, and global brands for a truly diverse retail experience. The city also boasts a vibrant nightlife scene, with everything from rooftop lounges and high-end bars to lively beach clubs. For adventure seekers, there's no shortage of activities. Popular options include desert safaris, boat tours, and visits to thrilling theme parks. Whether you are after designer fashion, cultural experiences, or adrenaline-fuelled fun, Dubai offers something for everyone.

Restaurants & Bars

Dubai's dining scene impressed with a mix of style and flavour. Nikki Beach Club offered relaxed beachside dining, where we enjoyed fresh seafood and expertly crafted cocktails in a laid-back, sun-soaked setting. At the Fairmont Hotet, the Novanta restaurant served up modern Italian cuisine in a sleek and refined atmosphere. Dhow and Anchor at the Jumeirah Hotel delivered classic British gastropub dishes. Floor 24 Rooftop Bar at the Fairmont Hotel is perfect for evening cocktails with a stunning view.
