Karen's Trip to Rome

Myself and my family took a 3 night trip to Rome, which was a bucket list item for me. It's a city we were all excited to travel to, as we all love Italian food and culture and we were not disappointed.

Location

Rome, the capital city of Italy, is located in the central-western part of the country. It's centrally positioned within the Lazio region and serves as a historical and cultural hub, drawing millions of visitors each year to explore its ancient ruins, iconic landmarks, and vibrant neighborhoods. We travelled from Dublin airport to Rome Fiumicino airport. We stayed in the Piazza Navona area of Rome and visited the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Vatican City.

What I Loved

I loved everything about this holiday. Every corner you turn has the most beautiful architecture or buildings, some which are thousands of years old. The people were lovely and friendly and the food was amazing. It really is the most wonderful city break.

Activities & Places to See

Visit the Colosseum, an iconic amphitheatre built over 2000 years ago.
I would highly recommend the Vatican Museums – these are some of the largest museums in the world, and have an enormous collection of art and artefacts from ancient Rome and Egypt.
See the Trevi fountain & the Spanish Steps, two extremely popular spots for tourists.

Shopping

There are plenty of designer shops around the Spanish steps area of Rome. You can also find popular high street brands such as H&M and other shops.

Food & Bars

There are restaurants and bars galore in Rome. Many of the piazza’s are lined with outdoor seating areas where you can watch Rome go by whilst enjoying lunch or a gelato. I would recommend Restaurant Emma, which is located at Via del Monte della Farina. They do excellent pizza and pasta dishes and of course you must try the Tiramisu for dessert.
