Kates Trip To Mogan


I recently travelled to the resort of Mogan in Gran Canaria. There are direct flights from all airports in Ireland with Aer Lingus and Ryanair. I travelled with Ryanair from Cork to Las Palmas and return which took roughly 4.5 hours.

Location

I stayed in the resort of Playa Del Mogan. Due to its location, the weather is good all year round however during peak season it can be extremely busy. There is a brilliant local bus service available along with a ferry that runs regularly up and down the coast visiting neighbouring resorts so it's very easy to get around and go on day trips.

What I Loved

The Village of San Bartolone de Tirajana up in the mountains is ideal for hill walkers and makes for a really enjoyable day out that allows you to experience the beautiful scenery and weather that Gran Canaria has to offer. I also enjoyed having the option of taking the ferry running along the coast to neighbouring resorts.

Activities & Places to See

  • There is a market on every Friday by the harbour (Mercadillo de Mogan).
  • There are also several day trips that can be done both on the sea and on land.
  • There are various water sports available on the beach, including peddalos and water skiing.

Shopping

There is a market down by the harbour every Friday (Mercadillo De Mogan) and they are great places to find a bargain.  There is something available for everyone and it is also ideal for finding handmade gifts that have been made by the locals.

Food & Bars

My favourite places to eat were Restaurant Coco Loco and Sol y Luna Ensayo Pub. Both these places served really tasty food and were nice places to dine in.

Beaches

The resort of Playa De Mogan has a fantastic small beach which even during summer months has enough space for everybody to sunbathe, relax and swim comfortably.
