Maries Trip To Pisa Macro

Pisa is a destination that has catured tourists hearts for centuries, and it's easy to see why. With its eclectic mixture of historically significant landmarks, beautiful landscapes and a wonderfully authentic view of the Italian way of life, Pisa is a must-visit for anyone who has an Italian holiday on their calendar.

Location

Pisa is a city located in the Tuscany region of central Italy. It is known for its iconic Leaning Tower, which is part of the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pisa is approximately 50 kilometers west of Florence, the capital of the Tuscany region, and it is well-connected by road and rail to other major cities in Italy. We stayed in central Pisa which was only about a 10 minute drive from the airport and rented a car to get around the region.

What I Loved

Some of my favvouite things about my trip to Pisa was the food & drink, as I got to try so many tasty fresh pasta dishes as well as some excellent prosecco. I also loved the chilled and relaxed way of life and of course the sun!

Activities & Places to See

  • A trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa is a must - of course! It takes about 30-4 minutes to climb the tower.
  • Admire the stunning architecture and artwork inside the Pisa Cathedral. The intricate details and historical significance make it a must-see.
  • Enjoy a peaceful walk along the Arno River, especially during the evening when the city lights up, providing a romantic ambiance.
  • Wander through the charming streets of Pisa's historic center, filled with shops, cafes, and vibrant street life.

Shopping

Pisa offers a delightful shopping experience, blending traditional Italian markets with modern boutiques. Whether you're looking for souvenirs, fashion, or local products, there are lots of places to indulge in a shopping spree, including Corso Italia & Pisa Central Market.

Food & Bars

There are lots of nice restaurants where you can enjoy all types of cuisine, but in particular there's no shortage of places where you can enjoy traditional Italian food and ‘pappardelle Cinghiale’, which is slow cooked boar covered in tomatoes and pasta known as the national dish of Tuscany. There is a café and restaurant at the Leaning Tower with a wide range of cuisines including Italian, Mediterranean and other international cuisines.
