Val's trip to Moldova

Location

I recently got to visit my home country of Moldova, where I got to spend some time with my family while also helping out a bit with our winery business. I flew from Dublin to Kiev, as Moldova is 29km to the east of Kiev and 40km from the historic center. This distance means that visitors should consider their onward travel arrangements before arriving at Kiev airport.

What I Loved

Some of my favourite things about Moldova are the rich culture & traditions of the country as well as the tasty food. The people are very friendly too.

Activities & Places to See

Visit Chișinău, the capital of Eastern Europe's Republic of Moldova.
See the neoclassical Nativity Cathedral, a dome-topped church in Chișinău's Cathedral Park.
Take a trip to the countryside and see Orheiul Vechi, an archaeological site that's over 2000 years old! This is one of Moldova's most visited areas.

Shopping

There are some great shopping malls in Chisinau. Piata Centrala is a local market and attracts lots of tourists.

Food & Bars

Traditional Moldovan food is rich, heart-warming and full of interesting flavours. You'll be happy to discover dishes like Sarmale, Zeama , Mamaliga and Placinta, all of which are definitely a must-try when visiting the city.
