Yvonne's Trip to dubai

We flew direct with Emirates from Dublin to Dubai, experiencing both an overnight flight on the outbound and a daytime flight on the return, each lasting around seven and a half hours. Economy class was spacious and comfortable, with a main meal served alongside complimentary beverages, including free alcohol, and a light snack offered about two hours before landing. The cabin crew were super friendly and professional, making the journey smooth and enjoyable.

Location

In Dubai, we stayed at several hotels, each offering something different. Atlantis the Palm was perfect for families, with Aquaventure Waterpark, beach access, an aquarium, and plenty of dining options. At the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, we enjoyed beach-facing rooms with views of the Burj Al Arab and access to the nearby waterpark. Downtown, the Kempinski the Boulevard suited adults and business travellers, featuring pools, a spa, Burj Khalifa views, and direct access to Dubai Mall. We also explored the Jumeirah Madinat Hotel, with its Arabian design, Thai dining, and relaxing abra rides. Finally, the SLS SkyPool offered adults-only luxury and spectacular skyline views.

What I Loved

Dubai truly felt like stepping onto another planet - it's unlike any city I’ve ever experienced. The futuristic skyline and breathtaking views were mesmerising, yet what made the trip even more special was exploring Old Dubai. Wandering through its narrow streets, traditional markets, and historic charm offered a wonderful contrast to the city’s modern glamour.

Activities & Places to See

  • Museum of the Future – Suitable for all ages, this immersive attraction in Dubai explores the potential of science, technology, and innovation to shape humanity’s future.
  • Desert Safari Experience with Platinum Heritage – Not suitable for young children, this luxury experience includes transport in air-conditioned vehicles, a 60-minute nature safari in vintage open-air Land Rovers, and a falcon show, camel rides, stargazing, and a traditional four-course dinner at the desert camp.
  • Frying Pan Food Tour in Old Dubai – A guided walking tour around Old Dubai offering a chance to explore traditional street food and bustling souks.
  • Lady Nara Dinner Cruise – A three-hour luxury sunset cruise where you can enjoy a delicious dinner while watching the Dubai skyline transform as the sun sets.
  • Dubai Mall – One of the world’s largest shopping malls, offering endless shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities.
  • Burj Khalifa At the Top Experience – Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Dubai from the 124th floor of the world’s tallest building.

Shopping & Culture

Dubai felt like stepping into another world. The city is futuristic, luxurious, and full of contrasts. I especially loved exploring Old Dubai and taking in the breathtaking skyline views, and of course, no visit would be complete without experiencing the endless shopping, dining, and entertainment at the incredible Dubai Mall.

Restaurants & Bars

During our time in Dubai, we enjoyed some fantastic dining and drinks experiences. Pai Thai at Jumeirah Al Qasr Hotel was the best Thai food I’ve ever had, while the hotel bar at Kempinski the Boulevard offered stunning views of the Burj Khalifa. We also visited J1 Beach, home to 13 licensed beachfront restaurants and exclusive beach clubs, and had a memorable dinner at the elegant Sirene restaurant. For a lively foodie experience, Time Out Market in Souk Al Bahar was a highlight, with 17 kitchens, three bars, a spacious terrace overlooking the Burj Khalifa and Fountain Show, and a vibrant mix of food and culture to enjoy.
